My favourite flower in CUHK campus is...

朱頂蘭!

The original one outside Franklin Building had disappeared, but I have discovered a new one near CC chapel.

Thanks kuenkuen for his help to take these photos for me.

Am I a chimera?

I always speculate that I am in fact a chimera, and today I am convinced that I am.

* * *

It seems that many people around me is unhappy for various reasons, and I really hope they will recover soon. Do smile because smiling can make you happier! :)

Today is a boring day as I was just working on essays which were already due a week before and the constraint processing course project proposal.

United College Photoday

At first, I want to apologize to John Chan because I have broken the necklace which he gave me on Shaw Photoday (><). I have talked with the shopkeeper today and she said the warranty period is only 14 days and we have just passed the warranty period. I plan to either ask for repairment or see this as an opportunity to "upgrade" the necklace but keeping the heart pendant (I really love it).

I am supposed to wake up early today, but it does not happen -- I wake up at almost 1:30pm! After I have arrived UC I just grabbed every body which I recognize in sight and request them to have a photo with me. As expected, both Alvin and Lo have got many friends from UC to take photos with them, and this bought up the question on why I do not have friends in Shaw.

After the photo day we went to take pictures with Elisa, which is my final year project supervisor, Jacky, Kuenkuen, Justin, KK and Edison. The most funny photo is being taken outside TYW Hall featuring us holding the "detachable" characters with Elisa (which doesn't hold any characters in order to stay "innocent").

Tonight we have our dinner in Shatin, as always, Alvin and Terry goes to funzone to play The House of the Dead 4. They have really tried their best and they have defeated the "C Eye Monster"!!! It is really an enjoyable to look at their performance and at the same time Alvin complains Terry's "poor accuracy". To my surprise I also find Catsix in fun zone.

I really wanted to finish a homework or two tonight, but needless to say I failed to do so.

Tomorrow Kuenkuen and me will go to Quarrybay to have the final contest for the Microsoft Server Championship. I really hope we will be the champion! I know that I have not contributed much to our team and I am perfectly okay even if Kuenkuen takes all the prizes. I believe I should only take what I deserve to take.

Finally, I want to say that although knowing my mistakes will make me unhappy for a while, I believe it will deepen friendship in long term and I really want to avoid the same mistakes in the future. Therefore don't hesitate to point out my mistakes!

By the way, I am the first to upload photos for the UC photoday.

Finally I have uploaded photos for all photo days (SC, CS and CC) to caelum. Feel free to download them if you want to.

BTW The count of my iPhoto is now 819 photos, hopefully the count will exceed 1,000 by the time I return my camera to my brother!

To those who think they are the smartest in the world...

You really irritates me!

I am really fed up with those who think they are the smartest in the world and look down upon others who know less than you do in a particular area. When I hear your voice, what I would do is to sit back and laugh at your mistakes and ignorance, just like how you treat others.

The only thing I want to tell you is: The dumbest people in the world are those who think they are the smartest.

No, you are not the person whom I am referring to.

Farewell dinner for Christina (in retrospect)

Originally I wanted to prepare for my Social Psychology midterm examination, but finally what I am being attracted to my iBook. As a result, I have ample amount of time to import my photographs for Shaw College Photo Day to iPhoto and upload the relevant photographs to caelum. As a personal reminder for me, I still have not sent the photographs to those whom I have taken the photo with. Tonight was the farewell dinner for my "mother" in the planner team and it is being held in Le Manege a club. After arrival I have discovered that it is the same venue as the one which used to host the CDEF of Crossia. It is a strange place: at first it has many uncommon decorations, but gradually I learned to like it because of the relaxing environment, the friendliness of the owner and, more importantly, the availablity of girls' costume and dresses (and I wished I live there). One memorable event about the girls' dresses is that when we arrived the Tony immediately asked if I want to try out one of the dress! At that time I have declined his "offer", but now in retrospect I wished that I should have told him yes. Before the dinner I worried a lot about how the situation would be like as I have not done anything for the company since late-January, after the arrival this thinking is so strong that I begin to worry about my whether I deserve to be treated by the company. Luckily my very good colleague Kalok have tried to comfort me continously, and I am really grateful for it. After the dinner we have played Jenga and UNO. The Jenga game is the best I have played because the final height of the stack almost doubles the original! Taking part in the Jenga game makes me think that I really dislike the feeling of the anxiety a competition. As a result, I have not participated the UNO game much and I was just teaching Kalok to play. My dislike of game drives me to have a (kind of) in-depth talk with the owner of the club because I really enjoy talking with people in different career and status. After leaving the club we have decided to go to a pub in Lan Kwai Fong. I am a bit reluctant at first as I do not like the taste (but I like the smell!) of alcohol. After some struggling and with the recommendation of my "mother" I have decided to go with a Passion Fruit drink. The story does not ends here, my curiousity have made me to try all others' drinks, with the sole exception of Carlsberg, they are half cup of Bailey's (Wine + Coffee), some Shiraz (Red wine) and a bit of Tetley's (Beer). Together with the Ice on Fire (burning wine poured onto icecream before serving), I have consumed quite a bit of alcohol tonight. Luckily it seems that I am still okay , does not get drunk and does not have any discomforts. Before I leave I told David that I have signed an NDA with Crossark, to my surprise, instead of worrying about it he asked me what the consequences are! Finally I have decided to study for my midterm at 2:30am!

I have a new personal record for overdue fine: a whopping $12 (and still counting)!

Dreams do come true... (eventually)

Some people complained that I haven't updated my blog for a long time, and I so do I...

* * *

Today I am occupied by the assignment on LZW compression (almost) completely. I have really underestimated the time which I need to do the homework, my original plan is to finish it on Sunday (haha), but I can barely finish it by yesterday. Luckily I can still learn something out of it: finally I really know why there is a difference between 7-bit safety and 8-bit safety (the particular case in my assignment is that widening extended ascii code from char to int will make it negative), and also I have implemented closed hashing for the first time in my life! Unfortunately I still have 4 homeworks (a reading list for term paper, 2 reflection essays and a take home midterm) which I target to clear in this week; plus a make up midterm on Thursday. Needless to say, my commitment to my company is an astonishing zero, I really don't know what should I say tomorrow when I have dinner with them.

After reading the blog entry by kuenkuen, I think I am in debt to those who have gave me gift and had taken photographs with me on Shaw Photo Day. I will take a photo for my gifts (the one similar to kuenkuen), upload photographs and send the photographs to others ASAP.

The strange thing is that I can still squeeze some time to buy a book on mushroom (Title: Hong Kong Mushrooms) published by the CUHK press, although I really don't know whether I will read or not.

Oh... just forgotten to mention that I am officially into social bookmarking today because of kuenkuen's recommendation!

The funeral for my flowers (in retrospect)

Finally I have decided to throw away my bunch of flowers as it is beginning to die. I have decided to take some photographs before she leaves me.

The flowers in her full glory

Naked flowers

The souvenir

This is my first time (and hope that this is not the last time) that I have received flowers, and I really think it looks great!! Thanks kuenkuen and amanda!
